The Creative Chaos Society is a non-profit organization run by volunteers. Months of time, planning and energy are spent year round to produce this annual event. The original intention of the founding members was to allow the public access to all styles of arts and crafts. You the customers, are an integral part of the show and the final judge and jury.

1971: The Beginning
Creative Chaos began as a two-day art exhibition focused on porcelain and ceramics, held in the auditorium of the Vernon Recreation Centre.

1972: Growth and Variety
The event expanded to three days and began incorporating food, live demonstrations of weaving and pottery, and performances in dance and song. Local schools were also invited to display student artwork, a tradition that continues through our community service today.

1975: An Official Show and Sale
The iconic Creative Chaos logo was designed by a Vernon Senior Secondary art class. This year marked a major milestone as the event expanded into a second building—the Vernon Curling Club—officially becoming a “Show and Sale.”

1995: The 20th Anniversary
Celebrating two decades of creativity, the festival grew once more to include a third building, the Priest Valley Arena, to accommodate its increasing popularity.

2015: the 40th Anniversary:
Creative Chaos celebrated 40 years of evolution. By this time, the festival had become a beloved tradition where new vendors joined a dedicated core of artisans who return year after year.

2025: the 50th Anniversary
Today, Creative Chaos has grown into Western Canada’s largest summer arts and crafts festival, welcoming over 200 vendors and artisans from across Canada.
